Speaking so that people want to listen

One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace will have the king for a friend. (Proverbs 22:11)

Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone. (Colossians 4:6)

The lips of the godly speak helpful words, but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverse words. (Proverbs 10:32)

The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. (Proverbs 15:2)

The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil. (Proverbs 15:28)

Those who listen to instruction will prosper;
     those who trust the LORD will be joyful.
The wise are known for their understanding,
     and pleasant words are persuasive.
Discretion is a life-giving fountain to those who possess it,
     but discipline is wasted on fools.
From a wise mind comes wise speech;
     the words of the wise are persuasive.
Kind words are like honey—
     sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. (Proverbs 16:21-24)

Timely advice is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket. (Proverbs 25:11)

Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious, but fools are consumed by their own lips. (Ecclesiastes 10:12)

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. (Matthew 12:35)

“Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.” (Mark 9:50)

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. (Ephesians 4:29)

Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. (1 Peter 3:15)

What would Jesus do?
