Sabbath

Jim Maurer - "Sabbath"

The Sabbath Was Given at Mount Sinai As a Sign Between God and Israel

Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’" Exodus 31:16-17 (NKJV)

The LORD did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive. Deuteronomy 5:3 (NKJV)

The Church Is Resting in a Person, Not a Day

But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? You observe days and months and seasons and years. I am afraid for you, lest I have labored for you in vain. Galatians 4:9-11 (NKJV)

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Colossians 2:16-17 (NKJV)

If There Is Any Question, "Today" Is the Sabbath

And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? Hebrews 3:18 (NKJV)

Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, again He designates a certain day, saying in David, "Today," after such a long time, as it has been said: "Today, if you will hear His voice," Do not harden your hearts." Hebrews 4:6-7 (NKJV)
