But they would not listen

Of all the saddest sentences in the world, “But they would not listen,” must be near the top of the list. When you reject help from someone who loves you, wants the best for you, and proves it through hard work and sacrifice, there isn’t anything left. And throughout human history, people have done that to God. Here are many examples that were written for our learning, so we would hear and fear and not follow in their disastrous footsteps.

    • Have you hardened your heart against God like Pharaoh? – Don’t be like Pharaoh who chose to deny God, so God hardened his heart to bear the plagues until the destruction was complete.
    • A famine of hearing the words of the LORD – Thousands of years ago, the prophey Amos wrote about a coming famine of hearing the words of the LORD in the end times. How should we prepare?
    • Do you have itching ears? – People with itching ears want to hear preaching that satisfies their desires by telling them what they want to hear .
    • And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land. (Exodus 4:9 KJV)
    • And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage. (Exodus 6:9 KJV)
