God’s Word (A lamp to guide our footsteps)

Do you really believe the Bible is God’s Word? Is the following just a silly children’s song, or is it true?

God’s Word is like a hammer that breaketh the rock in twain;
A lamp to guide our footsteps, and a light on the stormy main;
A sword that has two edges, and a mirror ourselves to see.
O yes, this is the Book of books, the B-I-B-L-E!
— The Book of Books by W. B. Mackie

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

We desire to rejoice with you for letting God’s word direct your paths, and reveal your thoughts, and change your ways, and correct your actions. We don’t want you to deceive yourself by hearing and not doing…

James 1:22-24 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
