How will the world know you are my disciples?

With so many things competing for everyone’s attention, what can Christians do to help the world know they are really disciples of Jesus Christ? Some churches claim the best rules and regulations, others claim the most accurate theology, and others claim authority and power. Which of the following did Jesus Christ say would prove you are his?

  • Rules and Regulations
  • Accurate Theology
  • Righteousness
  • Authority and Power
  • Holy Purity
  • Organizations and Ministries
  • Love!!!!

“A new command I give you:  Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. ” (John 13:34-35 NIV)

So now I am giving you a new commandment:  Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. ” (John 13:34-35 NLT)

A new commandment I give unto you,  That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.   (John 13:34-35 KJV)

The world will know because you know

We know that we have passed from death to life,  because we love each other.  Anyone who does not love remains in death. (1 John 3:14)

Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar.  For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.  (1 John 4:20)

And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning.  I ask that we love one another.  (2 John 1:5)

How are you doing? Are you treating all other Christians like blood relatives? If not, why not?

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.  Outdo yourselves in honoring one another. (Romans 12:10)

By this we know that we love the children of God:  when we love God and keep His commandments. (1 John 5:2)

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them.  Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. (Romans 12:9-13 NLT)
